In this two hour live online class, students will explore 20 of the best free online resources available for reference work in art and art history.

Description:

In this two-hour live online class, students will explore 20 of the best free online resources available for reference work in art and art history. Students will learn about online art resources librarians use to answer questions like “Where would I find a definition of ‘patina?’” and “Can you tell me where to find the full story of how Van Gogh cut off his own ear?” Students will then have the opportunity to explore art reference resources further in an after-class exercise.    

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this class students will be able to:

  • Identify online art resources used by reference librarians
  • Use art resources to answer specific questions
  • Assist patrons with art and art history questions more effectively

Library staff with an interest or need to know more about art and art history resources available online

Notes:

Registrations for this class must be received at least one week before the class date. Registrants should receive an email offering detailed login and setup instructions. Please call the Educational Services Department at 800.999.8558 if you do not receive this email at least three days before the class. This course is designed for individual participation; each individual must register.
